A Really Good Friday

I've been itching to go to Subic Beach off of Matnog, Sorsogon and the week-long holiday seemed like the perfect timing. Although it was a half-baked plan with the cousins, I kind of banked on it, until I found out the family had other plans.

I was dead-set on going. I rarely set my sight on things, but when I want something, I (do everything to) get it. The Universe helps me out, of course -- this time, in the form of my cousin Kai and her adventurous ways + Google.

There were a few curve balls along the way --  pulled over for obstruction of traffic (gotta love jeepney drivers), getting stranded in Matnog, staying overnight in a seedy motel -- but it was worth it.

Lomogroupie

I'm too lazy -- and cheap -- to be a hard core lomographer but I couldn't resist this action sampler wannabe I saw in a second-hand book store. 100 pesosesoses only!

Sabel (holga), Greggy (oktomat), Charlie (135 with a Peanuts frame), and Uni (waterproof 135) have a new friend.

Yeah, I name the cameras :p I'm calling this one Jacob :p

Now I really need that trip. I have a new travel buddy.

Whiny and Exhausted

It's been 3 months since my last vacation. I need one more before the year ends.

There's a place I dream about ...

... Where the sun never goes out.
And the sky is deep and blue.
Won't you take me there with you.

Ohhh, we can begin again.
Shed our skin, let the sun shine in.
At the edge of the ocean
We can start over again.

There's a world I've always known
Somewhere far away from home.
When I close my eyes I see
All the space and mystery.

Ohhh, we can begin again.
Shed our skin, let the sun shine in.
At the edge of the ocean
We can start over again.

Gary Lightbody

Just give me a sign, there’s an end and not beginning
To the quiet chaos driving me mad
The lone neon nights and the walls of the ocean
And the fire that is starting to go out

Almost forgot about this till I went down to the parking area to smoke.
These were shot without a tripod. Made do with the neighbour's car :p

The Street with Our Name

To the people who live on this street, I am sorry it's so hard to pronounce.

Island Hopping - Padre Burgos, Quezon

Lipata Island
Not as pretty, but I loved that I had the beach all to myself.

Puting Buhangin Island
Favourite ☺ The water is so clear that the boat looks suspended.

Dampalitan Island
Very Anawangin, complete with pine trees.

Borawan Island
The cliff Kai scaled.

Kai on the rocks :p

And me roughing it.
Happy camper, interning as the island's caretaker ha ha!

The Script Science and Faith Tour - Manila

Prior to the concert, I spent an all-nighter with a few friends finishing a photobook (but that's for another blog entry). So running on empty (read: 36 hours up, fueled only by coffee, cigarettes, chips and chocolate cake) I decided that it would be best if I chug about half a liter of rum and pineapple juice :p

The result? Drunk tweets and semi decent pictures :D

the rest of the pictures are in my FB.

sum pisces ... or you are what you eat.

the cream dory i bought over a week ago was begging to be cooked. every time i opened the freezer to get ice cream, frozen berries or bread, i can hear its fishy cry. "i've had enough of your cold treatment." *sob*

and because i like funny fishies, i gave in.

Dill Do Panfried Cream Dory with Lemon-Butter and Dill Sauce

what you need:
• seasoned flour
• the rest of the ingredients are in the dish' name :p

what to do:

• heat a non-stick pan, melt butter. add oil to prevent butter from burning
• dredge dory in flour seasoned with salt, black and cayenne pepper
• fry. and fry until you succeed.
• fish out the um, fish.
• add (more) butter to the pan and deglaze it with the juice of half a lemon
• pour lemon-butter love over the fish
• serve with dill sauce

clockwise: seasoned flour, butter, cream dory and lemon, dill sauce
finally, a fish that fits that damn plate!

dill-icious (sorry, i had to go there haha)
